Hi All,
I trust this email finds you well.
I have a requirement to add a "retired date" field in the cmdb_ci_server class to store the date a server is retired.
The discussion is, where to add that custom field OR using the out of the box one.
OOB
The out of the box "retired Date" field is in the alm_hardware class, which makes sense using it. However, the disagreement comes when it comes to virtual servers or databases as we do not create an asset on their creation.
Custom
Easier would be just creating this field in the cmdb_ci_server class but given the fact that there is an OOB i would prefer the OOB. Also, creating a new field would be redundant and even we may miss functionalities that come with the OOB field.
What would you do? and what is the right way of doing it?
