Service Mapping

Hello Everyone,

I am planning to implement  a service mapping for two business services in initial phase.

May I know, what are all the activities I need to take care of to implement this successfully?

FYI - we have Discovery in place without any issues so we are planning to use the same Mid Server.

Please share your knowledge.

Hi Breny,

I have started doing POC for service mapping .

As part of setup, I have done with the below steps,

1. Configured Midservers capabilities, application and IP ranges to meet the selection criteria for service mapping

2. Created Business service under service mapping application menu and configured entry point for that service  

Kindly advice , what is the next step to trigger the service mapping discovery ?

Hi Narendran,

The steps you mentioned should have already triggered the service mapping discovery. The following step will depend on the type of service you're mapping and whether the following node in the service infrastructure is reachable or not.

Some common problems people will reach at this point are:

a) the infrastructure is not accessible due to firewall, ACLs or missing credentials

b) the service is hitting a load balancer and the person doing the ServiceMapping configuration haven't associated the load balancer management ip yet to the node in the business service map.
