Service Watch

Hi All

Curious to know what exactly is service watch and what range of scope it offers. Is it worth the while learning   for someone who has developer like background in SNOW and has never been exposed to stuff like   discovery, inventory and configurations.

Need a thorough run-through.

Thanks

Basically it is a top-down view of discovery, it discovers and produces a business map of the components that deliver a business service and then dynamically updates that map as configuration of the individual CIs change. It also allows you to tie events on those CIs to the maps so you can see which business services are affected by incidents, among many other things.

Probably best to start by watching a couple of intro videos, this one although it's Fuji is a good introduction to the concepts and why they are valuable.

ServiceNow ServiceWatch - YouTube

This one covers the basics of Service Mapping on Geneva where the application has been re-written onto the ServiceNow platform (in Fuji it was an external application).

Service Mapping Part 1 | The Basics - YouTube

After watching those I'd have a play with the demo here: Demo Service Mapping | ServiceNow

It's a great product in my opinion, it saves a vast amount of time vs trying to manually create and maintain service maps, which end up never up to date with the actual running state of the service.

Thanks Alex for your time.

Thanks Alex,

It was helpful. I need to know does Service Mapping per-requisite is Discovery? Can't they work Independently with CIs discovered from other sources.

How will the cost of Mapping different from Discovery.

Thanks
