Hi Gary,
Please find your questions answers below :
Where can i find the SSL certificates for my instance ?
To check your certificate please check below steps:
1. Open any browser (in my example this google chrome) and open your instance
2. After loading of your instance page, click on the lock icon (see below in blue colour ) and then you will see below details( see highlighted "Certificate" ).
3. Select "Certificate" and then you will be able to see all the details related to certificate.
Which consumers will be using to connect to my APIs / instances ?
This is not generic, you have to ask ServiceNow or the people who are consuming ServiceNow APIs.
Will midservers configured for my instance use the same SSL certificate ?
Yes, you don't have make any changes here.
For more information you can check this ServiceNow KB article KB0563633.
Reference from ServiceNow:
Here are some questions you may have with corresponding answers:
- What is changing?
A. ServiceNow will be updating the SSL certificate supporting your instance in our data centers.
- How does it impact us?
A. This change affects your ability to connect to your instance only if you have hard-coded our SSL certificate into your infrastructure. Common cases where hard-coded SSL certificates may be found include, but are not limited to:
- A proxy server is used to access your ServiceNow instance. The proxy may have the current SSL certificate hard-coded into the proxy software.
- Inbound integrations that connect to your ServiceNow instance. Some examples of these integrations are listed in this ServiceNow Product Documentation.
- Does this change affect the Root Certificate?
A. No. This certificate change is to the *.service-now.com SSL certificate only. This will not affect the Entrust Root Certificate Authority which does not expire until 2030.
- Is this the same change that was performed in August/September 2019?
A. Yes. ServiceNow changes the *.service-now.com or leaf certificate every 6 months. If you have not hard-coded the existing certificate since we last updated it in August/September of last year, there are no changes that need to be made.
While hard-coded certificates are not recommended and are against industry best-practice, if a manual update is required in order to trust the new SSL certificate, the new certificate information can be requested in this case. Please note, ServiceNow reserves the right to rotate certificates without customer notification in response to a security need, should one arise.
