Using MultiSource CMDB functionality

How to use this feature?

When I look at the CI record using the "Multisource Data Preview" link on the CI record I was expecting to see three columns. The attribute, the value and the discovery source. I only see two - the attribute and the value.

How is this any different than the audit history?

Why is it not showing where the value came from? Is there something else I need to enable other than the plugin and the system property?

 UPDATE: Nevermind. Figured it out.

Hi ,

I am using SCCM as data source but data is not available in "cmdb_multisource_data" even after enabling the property for multisource and installing the required plugin.

Could you please help here?

Hello Ajay,

The first thing is you may need to make sure SCCM is listed as a discovery source. I think that by default SN has "MS SMS" but if you want SCCM specifically you may need to add.

What I found that was needed which wasn't really called out well in the documentation or maybe it is assumed is that you need to have Reconciliation Rules setup. So for me...I had to present this to a customer so I had that I trusted ServiceNow for "serial_number" at 100, then Altiris at 200 and then Import set at 300.

You can do other sources and field...but it wasn't until I added the Recon Rules at the right level in the CI Class Manager that I started to see it in the preview.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Reconciliation rules and data sources are setup but multi source table is not getting populated, do i need to call IRE script explicitly?

Hello Ajay,

Are you using a transform map? In the transform map, you should be using the transform map util that SN provides. It has your data go through the IRE and not the coalesce values in the mapping tab.

Are you using that script?
