  1. Summary:
I'm encountering an issue where VM instance servers are not getting updated in the CMDB during Discovery runs.

  2. Details:

  • Issue Description:
    • Affected class name  - cmdb_ci_vm_instance
    • I’m facing an issue where VM instance servers are not updating in the CMDB. The Discovery process runs, but the CI records in the CMDB do not get updated with the latest details.
    • But i can notice some VM servers are getting updated, but others are not getting updated.
  1. Specific Questions:
  • What could cause discovered VM instance data to not update existing CI records in the CMDB?
  • How can I debug and identify potential configuration errors in Discovery?

Closing:
Any advice or troubleshooting steps would be greatly appreciated!

Hi @Community Alums ,

check input classification in ecc queue and validate the information which are expecting to update is coming or not. If coming and not updating then check data precedence rule might be not allowed to update the record.

Accept and mark helpful if my response helped you.

Hi Runjay,

Thank you for your response. Since this issue relates to Cloud Discovery, I believe the ECC Queue might not be directly applicable, as it primarily handles messages for MID Server-based discoveries. Could you clarify how I might check input classification in the context of Cloud Discovery?

Thank you again for your guidance!

Hi @Community Alums ,

what’s the cloud provider for these vm’s Aws or azure?

Did you confirm with your cloud ops team that there are active vm’s in the cloud environment?

if yes, you need to check in the ecc queue and look for discovery pattern that contains virtual in the search field and look for a record that’s payload as input.
