Ways to validate data in the CMDB without Discovery

Does anyone have any ideas to QA data in the CMDB when Discovery is NOT turned on?

Hi -- yes, on the "Required" statistic there are 2 numbers (unfortunately not labeled, which makes the report more confusing than necessary).      The right-hand number is indeed the total # Ci's that were evaluated per the inclusion rules.  The left-hand number is the qty of CI's that are in error, i.e. don't meet the "required" data fields.

An example may help... in the sample below I filtered on the SERVER class.  An evaluation inclusion rule for the REQUIRED metric is that the discovery source must be ServiceNow.  On SERVER table, the HOSTNAME is set to be a required field.  When evaluated, 3 SERVER CI's included in the evaluation didn't have the required Hostname field.

After re-running the CMDB Health Completeness Score Calculation script the SERVER class results are shown on the CMDB Dashboard.   16 Total SERVER CI's are evaluated (i.e. filtered based on inclusion rule) and 3 of the 16 were OUT of compliance because they didn't meet REQUIRED data field, i.e. their hostname field was empty

Finally, the RECOMMENDED metric had no inclusion rules set and no recommended fields defined.  Therefore, 57 reflects the total qty of Server CI's that were evaluated (the server table contains a total of 57 records).  And because no recommended fields have been defined, there are no discrepancies (i.e. 0 records with issues)

Hope this helps?
