What is the best CI relationship to create between a Server and an Application Service like LDAP

I am having a lot of trouble building CI relationships between servers and different standard application services most if not all servers should have (e.g. LDAP, DNS).  Relationships I have used present the dependency models in strange ways that seem to conflict each other which being the same on multiple "servers."  I have tried used by::uses and connects to::connects and depends on::used by.

Any best practices/ideas?

The system keeps a table (Suggested Relationship [cmdb_rel_type_suggest]) of relationship types that are appropriate for a CI type, based on its class. You can manage suggested relationships by navigating to Configuration > Suggested Relationships, or in the CI Class Manager.
