Hi everyone,
I’m exploring real-time knowledge and wanted to clarify something. In organization projects where the client belongs to domains like Pharma or Finance, do ServiceNow developers generally create only ITSM-related catalog items, or do we also design catalog items specific to those business domains?

Hello @Rishabh_N,
In organization projects where the client belongs to specialized domains like Pharma or Finance, ServiceNow developers do not limit themselves to only ITSM-related catalog items. While IT Service Management (ITSM) is a core use case for ServiceNow, the platform is highly flexible and can be tailored to support a wide variety of business processes, including those specific to Pharma, Finance, or other industries.
Catalog Items in ServiceNow
Catalog items in ServiceNow are essentially forms or requests that users can submit for various services. While many organizations start with ITSM catalog items (like password resets, hardware/software requests, access requests), ServiceNow’s capabilities extend far beyond IT.
Domain-Specific Catalog Items
For clients in Pharma, Finance, or other specialized industries, ServiceNow developers often design and implement catalog items that are specific to those business domains. Examples include
Pharma Domain:
Submission of adverse event reports
Request for laboratory equipment or supplies
Compliance documentation requests
Finance Domain:
Request for financial reports or statements
Approval workflows for expense reimbursements
Loan application processing
Regulatory compliance submissions
