Configure email connections with TLS/SSL

Hi @Maik Skoddow 

I have a requirement. 

As a System Administrator, I need to configure TLS/SSL for email connections to increase email security on the platform. Kindly help.

Hi @Servicenow User 

you have to distinguish between using ServiceNow email infrastructure or your own email infrastructure. 

ServiceNow does not offer a TLS/SSL connection for its own email infrastructure (see https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0743089)

Just an update since Maik posted in case anyone else happens upon this...

Per Outbound Email/Notifications FAQ (KB0957766):

From November 2022, all new customer instances have been configured to use TLS to protect the SMTP connection from the customer's instance to the outbound ServiceNow email servers. Older instances can be upgraded to SMTP STARTTLS for outbound mail by re-running "email provisioning".
