Hi Ganga,

Software as a service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Platform as a service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Google Apps and Microsoft Office 365 are examples of SaaS, where centrally hosted software is supplied.

ServiceNow is an example of PaaS, where a platform is also supplied, allowing customers to develop and extend the OOB functionality.

Hi Ganga,

Service-now give some applications (software) like incident, problem and change management, Knowledge DB, CMDB... as a service. This comes under SaaS model because here software is served over internet (cloud).

And also service-now servers platform like MySql server (to create tables mysql server has to be installed) and NodeJS (to run javascript on server side we need nodejs) to be installed. This comes under PaaS.

Hope this answer helps you to understand the difference between SaaS and PaaS model. If it is please mark helpful.

Thanks,

Nag.
