Hide a catalog item which is part of an order guide

Dear Experts,
We want to build an order guide combining 3 catalog items. However, we do not want the users to access these catalog items independently/directly but only through the order guides.
If we add user criteria/entitlement to these catalog items will we be able to achieve this?
Can you please recommend a solution on how to achieve this? We are on London.

When I try to remove the catalog, it comes back again when I save. So I have created another catalog called "Hidden catalog" and moved my cat items that should not be visible into that one. The "Visible elsewhere" approach above did nothing (as far as I can tell)

Use "Visible On Guide" to true and "Visible elsewhere" to false, to hide the item independently/directly and show only in the order guide.
