Hello,
Is it possible to hide knowledge categories? For example, a top-level category called IT, with sub-categories, such as, Firewall, Policies & Procedures, Routing, and so forth. Hiding this entire knowledge thread from end user view would help eliminate confusion on the user end as they wouldn't have access to any of the articles within this category.

Hello,
you can not apply permissions to Knowledge categories. Instead, I suggest you to create two separate KB's, and then apply permissions via user criteria as Edward suggests.
