How Does 'Meta' Work on Catalog Items?

Each of our catalog item that's been built has keywords populated in the 'Meta' field. I tried testing one of them and it doesn't seem to be working on the Self Service Portal. It always return 'Your search - keyword - did not match any documents' message. Am I using it wrong? Am I missing something to get this to work as expected?

Hi,

Once the meta has been added you'd want to regenerate your text indexes by following the instructions at the bottom of this post: https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/orlando-it-service-management/page/product/service-catalog-manage... the first step about text indexes and regenerating, takes a little bit to finish. You can track if it's done or not in that same area, just by looking at the state of the record they mention you regenerate the text index on.

I don't believe that would change anything.

So when you go to search, like I did, pick a meta word that's not in the name of the item or anywhere else, except just in the meta (so we can ensure it's working) and see if your Five9 item shows up?

Again, just using 9, may not work and that's more of a SN thing versus something being "wrong" here. So you'd want to try a meta word that is 3 or more characters or longer.

The meta is to be used for words that a user may alternatively search with. So you don't need to put Five9 (for example) in the meta, because that's already in the name.

ok so I tried adding 'Pancake' to that catalog item. And re-generate the index. And it is working. So I guess numbers doesn't seem to work. Every other keyword for that catalog item is working though.
