How to filter Request Items to show Approval != Approved

I am trying to filter my Request Items view to NOT show items that have been approved.  However, if I set the condition Approval != Approved, I am still seeing items that have been approved.  I tried to filter based on Stage, but the only option I have there is --None--.  Is there a better way to get this to work that I am not thinking of?

Stage is probably going to be different per Catalog Item, so I wouldn't use that for general filtering.  Approval is normally set as part of the workflow, and again, that would be different for each Catalog Item/RITM generated.

I'm not sure what you're showing with the 2nd screen shot?  The Approval record from a Catalog Task?

Hi Shane.

The second image is the approval record on the RITM, showing that the item has been approved.

Ok, so what does the Approval field on the RITM show in that example?  😉

It sounds like your issue is that your RITM doesn't properly reflect the Approval, or you're trying to filter the wrong way.  You'd have to start with the Approval record and dot-walk up to do the filtering you originally offered up with the 'Approval' field on your RITMs is wrong.
