Our department is beginning to use cloud services from Amazon (AWS), Microsoft (Azure) and Google (GCP). Our department's role is both as a consumer running applications on these cloud platforms and also as a broker giving other departments in the University access to resource in these clouds. We are wondering how other organizations are using ServiceNow CMDB to represent Cloud resource in the CMDB.

Hi there,
It looks like 6 months on you had no response. Did you make progress on representing these, as a consumer, in your CMDB? We are also thinking hard about this!
Many thanks
Gavin

We don't use ServiceNow Discovery and we haven't yet purchased the Cloud discovery module for our tool. We use the CI called Business Applications. It has a custom field called Hosted which has options of OnPremise, SaaS, IaaS or PaaS. If the Business Application is in a cloud environment we mark it as IaaS or PaaS accordingly and then create a downstream relationship to the Business Application CI that represents that cloud environment, e.g. Amazon Web Services, Azure or Google.
When we are able to do Cloud discovery then we will implement more detailed downstream infrastructure relationships.
