This sounds like you could be trying to open the SC Catalog Item widget without passing in the sys_id parameter of a Catalog Item or Record Producer. You usually navigate to the Service Catalog page which contains the SC Catalog Item widget (among others) either from service category widget, the Recent and Popular Items widget or via the Typeahead Serch Widget.

You can also create an Icon Link of type URL and link directly to the Catalog Item e.g. ?id=sc_cat_item&sys_id=e46305bdc0a8010a00645e608031eb0f&sysparm_category=900682363731300054b6a3549dbe5d5f (url to the Executive Desktop Catalog Item in an Out of the Box instance) or by setting it to type Catalog Item and specifying the Catalog Item and Page (in this example the Catalog Item would be Executive Desktop and the page would be sc_cat_item).

Hello,

I've seen the solution for this particular problem in a few places and sadly i still have no idea how to actually fix the problem. I must be missing something or it could be i just don't know enough yet (which is the most likely reason). If anyone can explain this i would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Marc
