Instance Data Replication

Hi Team,

The instance data replication feature and assess how we can use it to transfer all ticket data (such as CMDB, incidents, changes, and service requests) from customer current instance to our Dev instance. The main points to clarify are:

  1. Can we specify which data to transfer based on filter conditions and selected columns?
  2. How should we set it up for related tables, like incident attachments and activity history? Another example would be RITM, REQ, and Catalog Tasks.
  3. Is it possible to configure it to fetch data created or updated within a specific date range?

Note: In case if we want to do POC using IDR (Instance data replication), what is the name of the plugin and how we can enable this in our PDI to test the IDR features between producer and consumer instance.

Please help me with above queries in case similar kind of data migration activity has been accomplished or along with any relevant documents, community links, or articles that explain the process and steps involved. Any suggestions put together by community users would be more appreciated.

Thanks,

Akshay Giradkar

I won't recommend doing a sync on system fields.

Please check the docs or faqs if those are supported.

IDR is for data replication. If you want it all, just clone.

Hi @Akshay35

No, IDR is not available in PDI, you can try this in a demo instance but not on PDI.

First: you want customer data exported to your DEV? I hope NDAs are signed, because you will be transferring privileged and classified data (ie user data). Please explain possible consequences to your client.

Next to that: what is the purpose? Is it just to demonstrate how it works? You can do that on your own DEV instances, or use the customer DEV instance for it.

IDR is not available for PDIs, because it is an expensive feature.

And for your other questions: the docs explain all of this. Why are you asking us for links to documentation? Did you read the docs about this?

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your response.

No, we are not exporting any customer data.

Just from one PDI to other PDI to know more about IDR features - but in our case it is not possible as it is paid plugin.

Thanks,

Akshay

Correct, few things we cant do on PDI like clone/ upgrade the way we do at client instance.
