Is it possible to Approve request from Microsoft Teams without any roles assigned to the approver

If an approver responds to an approval request via Microsoft Teams(Approve/Reject), do they require a ServiceNow license if they don’t have any assigned role in the system?

I have checked and it ispossible for a user without any role to approve or reject RITMs directly from email, I want to know if this will work from Microsoft Teams as well.

Hi @TahiraS ,

may be you can try this -

  • Use Virtual Agent + Teams Integration or Flow Designer with Teams connector
  • Configure notification flows to send approval cards to Teams
  • Include:
    • Request summary
    • Approve/Reject buttons
    • Optional comment field

No Role Required:

  • Users can approve directly from Teams using secure tokens
  • Ensure the Flow Designer action uses the correct approval record and user mapping

Thanks,

As per my understanding, approvers need to have approver_user role for them to be configured as approvers. Below documentation link can provide more information,

approvers do not need approver_user role to approve requests.  I tested it out.  A user without any roles can approve a request from email, portal, and Teams integration notifications.
