Issue with Contract Activation State in ServiceNow

Hi All,
When a contract is created with a past start date and a future end date, the contract becomes active as expected. However, upon clicking the "Adjust" button and changing both the start date and end date to future dates, the contract state remains active even after applying these changes. In my understanding, the contract state should revert to draft because the start date of the contract has not yet been reached.
I have observed this behaviour consistently in both my production environment and ServiceNow personal developer instance, indicating that it's not an isolated incident.
Has anyone else encountered this issue or can provide insights into why this might be happening? Any guidance or suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
