ITSM simulator
Configure monthly freeze/blackout period
well ... i was convinced i had this one correct, but i keep getting a validation error regarding the schedule and if all CI classes are included.
I modified some values in the scheduled to validate they did what I thought they did. Everything reacts as expected.
For the CI classes, I selected the source as CI Class, but set no conditions. I did believe this would be a "select all". Seached in the documentation, and search in community as well. Appears i can't win on this one autonomously.
Am attaching my screenshots. If someone could provide guidance, that would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Diane,
Here's how I approached this task:
1. Created the Maintenance Scheduled as follows (refer to img 1), choosing the CI Class as the source field and creating a condition to apply it to every CI of class Network, UNIX Server or Linux Server. Added the schedule entry for it to repeat every Monday until the end of the year.
2. Created the Blackout Schedule as follows (refer to img 2), again choosing the CI Class as the source field without defining a condition for it to apply to all CIs, and finally creating the pertinent Schedule Entry.
Hope this helps

Scheduled maintenance freezes or blackout periods are common practices in IT Service Management (ITSM) to minimize disruptions and ensure stability during critical periods. These periods involve restricting or minimizing changes to the IT infrastructure and services.
During a monthly freeze or blackout period, organizations typically implement the following measures:
Change Freeze: Any non-essential changes or updates to the IT systems, applications, or infrastructure are temporarily suspended. This helps avoid potential disruptions that could arise from introducing changes during a sensitive period.
Release Management: New releases or deployments of software, applications, or system updates may be postponed during the blackout period. This prevents unexpected issues or conflicts that could impact the stability of services for capcut.

For anyone else having this issue, make sure you change your list view to Blackout Schedules before creating it (Change - Schedules - Blackout Schedules), otherwise you are creating it correctly but as a Maintenance Schedule not a Blackout Schedule.
