Our IT provider serves various government agencies. We offer business offerings via our Service Catalog
components are defined to deliver these offerings. Sometimes, one technical component supplies exactly one business product. Here, that single consumer pays 100% of underlying expenses.
Other times, technical components supply multiple services. Each must take proportional fractions. If consumers utilized 1 service, they get charged 100%. When consumers utilized 2 services, those are charged back 50% respectively.
Usage data must reach SLA managers monthly, then be shared with those consumers. Reports explicitly show how prices formulate, detailing shared technical portions. Because checkout is static, ServiceNow cannot natively predict total monthly users. We must split fixed pools after cycles close.
Option A: Custom Field
Keep checkout amounts at zero. Create an Allocated Cost column on Requested Item tables. Execute scheduled scripts periodically to count unique requests, divide fixed budgets by volume, then update records.
Option B: Financial Modules
Map fixed totals into Expense Lines. Build Allocation Rules utilizing Even Distribution strategies. Metrics dynamically target generated tickets per fiscal period.
I am seeking community feedback regarding these potential resolutions. What configuration works best?
