Why do Knowledge Management have separate Workflow for Publish and Retire instead of a single one?

Hi Adityavishnu,

It is not like we should not have the same workflow for both Publish and Retire. We can have the same one for both. Based on our requirement, we have to select the Workflow.

The workflow mentioned as Publish workflow gets executed when the Article is being published and the workflow mentioned as Retire workflow gets executed when the Article is being retired.

From the screenshot you have provided, Knowledge - Instant Retire is used as Retire Workflow. If we use this workflow, there is no need of Approvals for retiring the article. If we use Knowledge - Approval Retire (one other OOB workflow)as workflow, then an approver must approve for retiring the Knowledge.

For better understanding, go into Knowledge - Instant Retire workflow and click on Show workflow related link.

To have a look at all the OOB workflows, navigate to wf_workflow_list.do

Hope this helps.

Mark the answer as Correct/Helpful based on its impact.
