We are working on configuring service portal and we wanted to make the portal accessible only for specific group of end users.
To implement it, we are planning to create a custom role and only the people who has that role will be redirected to Service portal. The other user will not be able to access it.
Please let me know if such role used to control access to the portal would be counted as a additional license. if yes could you suggest any other alternative approach to implement it.

HI Shalini,
Whether or not the role counts as a license depends on what roles it contains. If you are setting your portal up for basic inputs and viewing, that would not count against your licenses. If you are expecting users of this portal to manage projects, update incidents, etc, they would consume licenses.
It's always best to check with ServiceNow directly to get the right answers around licensing, license consumption, etc.
Hope that helps.
