We are exploring an opportunity where we will be using SN to manage IT assets and non-IT assets (everything from office desks and file cabinets to diesel generators and cement trucks and beyond).
There are many similarities between IT and non-IT asset management but there are some differences. For example, is a desk or a cement truck a configuration item? I would think not, but I am not certain.
I would appreciate any feedback from those of you who have used ServiceNow to manage non-IT assets.

Would you open Incidents or other tasks against the non-IT items? If not, then you definitely do not want to create CIs for these items.
If you do, I would probably come up with a plan for how to differentiate these items through some sort of categorization to limit them from being displayed with other CIs.
Either way, you need to be sure to set up your Model categories appropriately.

Hi Ben, yes, we would be opening incidents/task against these items. Would
you by any chance know of some resources (documents, websites, YouTube
videos, etc) that might provide more information about other people who use
SN to manage non-IT assets? I did find and view a video from Knowledge 15
about managing non-IT assets (Stower Institute) that was very helpful, but
more would be better
Thank you for your response, it was very helpful.
