Pinned knowledge in Contextual Search Results

Dan Brown2

Hi,

I have created some 'Featured Content' for knowledge bases and when searching from the knowledge base homepage it pins it to the top of the results.   This is great, but is there anyway to have this pinned to the top of the Contextual Search Results on the Incident form etc too?

Cheers,

Dan

If you are using the out of the box "incident deflection" Search Context, then system would render the pinned articles on the Contextual Search Results.

Basically you need to ensure that the Search Context that you are using, is associated with a Searcher that includes Pinned Knowledge articles.

Contextual search does a separate query for Pinned articles, which is driven based on a keyword search. Where as the non-pinned articles are driven by a separate search. So the results should not get duplicated.

Which release are you on?

I am on the Geneva patch 7.   I wonder if it has been amended from the OOB.   Is there a way to revert or see the original configuration of the Contextual Search?

Thank you,

Dan

I have just reset my dev instance and by default the knowledge articles are being duplicated in both Pinned and standard search results,

Thanks,

Dan

Please follow the below navigation:

1. Contextual Search -> Search Contexts -> Incident Deflection.

2. Go to the Resource Configuration tab. Click on Knowledge.

3. Verify the value set for "Search Resource Context Properties -> Exclude Pinned Articles". Ensure the value is set to "true".

Then try.

Brilliant thank you.

Do you know if it is possible to highlight the pinned articles on the contextual search, similar to the way it is on the Knowledge homepage?

Thank you

Dan
