Hi guys,
Is there a way to "re-open" a completed update set? That is, once an Update Set has been completed, can the the State be changed from Completed back to In Progress.

Hi,
There is a "legal" workaround, that should be used only in situations like, "closed by error and not migrated" and it works in all the situations... but you should take care on it!
Merge it!
If you have UPD_SET_A closed, create an UPD_SET_B, close it when finished the works, and then merge both in a third UPD_SET, which will change to DNT or IGNORE the merged update sets, and it will keep open the new merging one.
Please, use it under your own risk!

This is possible using the workarounds mentioned above, such as reopoening the update set by setting state to 'In progress' and merging the old update set with a newly created one.
However, this will inevitably lead to problems at some point, I did this once, but in the gap between Completing and re-opening my update set, a colleague retrieved update sets in the Production environment, and further changes I made could not be imported to Production.
The safest solution is to simply create a new update set, and note that it follows on from the original one. It only takes ~ 5 seconds to create an update set, and the same to commit one and will save you a headache at some point!
Best of luck,
Alex
