I have created a duplicate Variable similar to original variable in a catalog item but the difference is the original variable have help text but the duplicate is not. When I choose the option MAP from the variable 'I want help with' the duplicate variable would appear and for rest of the options the old variable would appear. So I have developed this part using UI policy but I have to replicate the old variable's functionality to the new variable. How to script to replicate the old variable's functionality to the new variable as well?

What do you mean by replicating the functionality, what does the old variable does. Can you share some screenshots.
