Second round interview questions for entry level ServiceNow Administrator?

I had an interview last week for an entry level ServiceNow Admin Analyst position and they'll be conducting second round interviews shortly. I prepped for the first interview by going through the free six-module, self-paced training videos and referencing key terms from the position's duty statement in the ServiceNow wiki.

Some of the first round questions included:

  • What my experience with ITIL was, specifically Service Operation stage and whether or not I have taken the Foundations course. I have taken the course and did pass, so I am Foundations certified.
  • My experience with ITSM tools
  • Communication styles

I do not have experience with ServiceNow, however, I am under the impression I will be invited back for a second round interview and I am curious as to what the ServiceNow community would think could be included (question-wise) a second round interview.

According to the duty statement for this position, the Admin Analyst would perform these ServiceNow specific duties: core configuration tasks; work with UI and data policies, UI actions, business rules and client scripts; account administration; manage data with tables, the CMDB, import and update sets; work with two-key process applications such as Knowledge Base and ServiceNow Service Catalog; create workflows activities and approvals; configure alerts/notifications; view upgrade history/status; control system access and data security; create baseline performance metrics; run reports, configure SLAs and perform customization; and integrate social IT elements and learn best practices.

It goes on to state that the Admin Analyst would also conduct requirements gathering sessions to help identify and define business needs of ServiceNow users; review proposed changes to ServiceNow and provide feedback for approval/denial of changes; assist with facilitation patches, upgrades, and configuration changes to the tool; and answer/response to technical queries and assist users.

One of the Senior Admin Analysts who sat on the interview panel did mention that having some JavaScript experience would be helpful for the client scripting. So I plan to reference the wiki for that, but any other input/advice for the second round interview would be much appreciated!

You might want to check out the developer community and look at some of the courses. In the interview tell them you are currently taking those courses and maybe talk about what you have learned.

Hey Shawn, just wanted to follow up and let you know that I appreciate your suggestion to check out the developer community. I had no idea that you could access a developer instance and play around with it. So I've been going through the the training modules that cover the position's duties. Great idea! Thank you again.

Hello Tina, I find myself in a similar position as yourself- I am a Certified ServiceNow System Administrator, and am certified in ITIL, but do not have workplace experience with ServiceNow. Did you end up getting hired at the company you were interviewing with?
