Service Catalog Item Integration with Jira Project - Creating Story in Specific Board

Hi Team,

We have received a requirement to create a new Service Catalog Item named" OpChange ".

Current requirement:

  • User submits a Catalog Item.
  • RITM gets created in ServiceNow.
  • Upon submission, a Jira Story should be automatically created in Jira project IOFD.
  • Story should be created in the"To Be Triaged" column of the Kanban board.
  • All catalog variables from ServiceNow should be appended into the Jira Story Description.
  • Email notification should also be sent to a shared mailbox.

Questions

  1. What is the recommended approach for creating Jira Stories from ServiceNow Catalog Items?

    • Flow Designer Jira Spoke?
    • IntegrationHub?
    • Custom REST API?
  2. Has anyone implemented a similar use case where:

    • RITM triggers Jira Story creation
    • Variables are mapped dynamically into Jira Description
    • Story is created in a specific Jira Project/Board
  3. If using Jira Spoke:

    • Can we directly create a Story in a project backlog?
    • How do we specify the initial workflow status (e.g., "To Be Triaged")?
  4. Are there any best practices for sending all catalog variables as formatted content into the Jira Story Description?

  5. Any recommendations regarding error handling and synchronization between ServiceNow RITM and Jira Story?

please help here with below

  • Upon submission, a Jira Story should be automatically created in Jira project IOFD.
  • Story should be created in the"To Be Triaged" column of the Kanban board.
  • All catalog variables from ServiceNow should be appended into the Jira Story Description.

Any examples, implementation guidance, or lessons learned would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

JIRA spoke is paid one so if customer has that then better to use that instead of going with custom integration

That spoke has most of the features which your customer is looking for
