Hi SNC,
How do I create an Instance With Table on a Service Portal Page instead of a "simple" Instance? By default, when I am in a Service Portal Page and I click to Create a New Instance, it always create a Instance. How do I create a Instance With Table instead?
Regards,
Fábio Gonçalves

Usually if you create a widget with it's data table field set to "Instance with table", an "instance with table" instance will automatically be created when dragging the widget onto a page.
However, if you simply want to create an Instance with a table directly then just use the "Filter Navigator" to navigate to the "Instance with table" list view. Then from there just click on the "New" button and the new record that comes up will automatically be an Instance type of "Instance with table".

Page designer is the "drag and drop" and most common way of adding a widget to a service portal page. It's also the way to manipulate the widget layout of a service portal page. And if the widget was built with instance options, they can be populated from the page designer as well.
I updated to Zurich to make sure things still work in the latest release.
Then basically created a new service portal page.
Since the new page is empty and there is nothing to Ctrl + right-click on when rendered I followed these steps to add the Data table from Instance widget
- Navigated to the page records list view
- Found and opened my new page record
- Scrolled down to the Related Links and clicked on "Open in Designer"
Once opened in the page designer find the desired widget and drag onto the page.
Hover over the widget instance and click the pencil icon in the top right to populate and save the options.
Then open your page.
This example was done in the Zurich release. It's safe to say that dragging and dropping a widget with an data table instance still works in 2025. However, that error could be a little more intuitive.
I hope this was helpful.

I was referring to, that you were even suggesting to use Page Designer.

Yep, I thought that might be the case, but I'd rather give the benefit of the doubt. And just in case others stumble upon this thread, to let them know that there is a way around that error.
