When the user click on the request something in service portal it should not go to catalog items but it want to redirect to the homepage when click on request something pleases give step by step guidance to achieve this

Why do you want to change the OOTB behavior? Requesting something with a surprise and redirecting back to the home page will spoil the user experience."

That really sounds like you want that do nothing as the start page & destination page are the same. If you really need to do for whatever business reason you can modify using the below. 

 

Ctrl + Right Click on Request Something, Select Instance Options, Change the Page here from sc_category to your SP Portal Homepage ID.
