SSL Certificate Management Within Service Now

Hi guys quick question hoping someone can help me with.

Currently we manage certs out of SN. Is there a dedicated cert management module in SN or are they managed as CI's.

If so is there any pitfalls I should be aware off?

Thanks

There is not a dedicated module. There are a couple ways you could manage this depending on your goals:

  • If you are just looking to manage where certs are applied, you could manage them as CIs and set up relationships. This allows you to view them in a Business Service Map.
  • If you also want to track costs and expirations on your certs, you can use contract management (I usually recommend Subscription contract for certs). You could then associate the CIs to which you have the cert applied to the contract.

Thank you this has been extremely helpful

Ben,

In your answer, you indicated "You could then associate the CIs to which you have the cert applied to the contract."

I see how to associate the Cert to an Asset, but not how to link it to a CI.

In our case, we have all of the physical servers as assets and, if appropriate, as CIs.   However, our virtual servers are only set up as CIs since they only exist as a configuration.

Could you please explain how you link the SSL Certificate subscription to a CI?

Thanks.

Never mind....   I just found that the "Contracts Used By" is for CI's

Thanks
