Standard Change catalog item

Hi ServiceNow community,

I'm new to change management, I've a requirement to create a catalog item from a standard change. I see that at the moment of the creation of the standard change an item is also created.

From this item I would like to add variables, is that possible?

Thanks in forwards,
Leo

Yes, it is possible to add variables to a catalog item created from a standard change in ServiceNow. Here are the general steps you can follow:

  1. Create a new catalog item: In the Service Catalog application, create a new catalog item and configure the variables that you want to include. Note that the catalog item can be created before or after the standard change.

  2. Link the catalog item to the standard change: Open the standard change record and go to the "Catalog Item" related list. Click the "New" button to create a new related catalog item record, then select the catalog item that you created in step 1.

  3. Map the variables: Once the catalog item is linked to the standard change, you can map the variables from the catalog item to fields in the standard change record. To do this, go to the "Variables Mapping" related list on the catalog item record, click the "New" button, and select the field in the standard change record that you want to map to each catalog item variable.

  4. Test the catalog item: Once the variables are mapped, you can test the catalog item by creating a new request for it from the Service Catalog. When the request is submitted, the values entered for the catalog item variables will be mapped to the corresponding fields in the standard change record.

Hi @J_31,

Have found this related list, and added some variables. The thing is when I submit the item(change) with the filled variables in the change request appears with these empty. Do you know why?

Did you follow the above steps?

or can you provide more details on what all you did?

Hi @J_31 ,

Followed your steps, but couldn't associate the item with the standard template. So I found this related list and created a variable. On the portal, the variable is visible but at the moment of the submission, the input isn't saved (on the variable editor is empty).
