storing "Mobile App" as a CMDB CI Class

does anyone have an approach to storing their mobile apps within the CMDB?

what CI Class is it?

I think it may be much like desktop software , because it is distributed to the users

It brings an interesting angle to CMDB and how we should approach this in accordance with Change & Incident management, etc

There is not currently a "home" for it so I think a separate class will be required

I have the same question. We have debated using an existing CI class like desktop software with a "mobile" attribute (yes/no), but in some ways a separate CI class seems more appropriate since the mobile app may have a different lifecycle than the desktop software. I didn't see the "I have the same question" link so I am posting this reply.

What we did is leveraged the ci.software.application class and created a sub-type called "Mobile". Discovery places apps in ci.software, but we have our customer register their applications in ci.software.application and then we connect the relationships.

I came across this post via a Google search, it was the only relevant result, which I found surprising.

I know this is a pretty old thread at this point, but I'm wondering if anyone has anything new to share about how they're accomplishing this?  What is your source of record for mobile apps, and then how are you tracking them in the CMDB?

Thanks so much for any help you can give!
