Track table and script changes

We are six years on the platform and have grown the application beyond where we started. We run an Agile team with 3 admins and outsource developement to a vendor.

While work is being done using stories the areas of concerns are:

  • Tables
  • Scripts
  • Business rules
  • ACL
  1. How do you effectively track and maintain new/update/changes?
  2. What repository is best suited to maintain theses changes?

Note I said effectively

Hi @GChanner

this question is really important, as the topic behind it is often underestimated. However it is also hard to answer because so many aspects will impact the solution which in most cases will be customer specific. I have been an evangelist on the subject of documentation for over 20 years and I could not find a universal recipe yet. I am a big fan of wiki-based documentation (for example, Confluence by Atlassian) because of the collaborative approach and also because there is only one source of truth (and not an uncontrollable number of Word copies).

However, as a first starting point and quite good blueprint, I can recommend you the following post by @Uncle Rob : https://us3.campaign-archive.com/?u=a90574da9f9c620f45c6d61bc&id=e0bcc4302d
