what is the use case of wait for condition in workflow task activity?

Is it wait for closed complete ? what if cancelled or some other state called change unsuccessful , won't it go further if i check the box wait for condition ??

Indeed than it won't go further, unless you add such logic in your workflow. Can you share your workflow design?

task has been created and even after failing the task its been struck in create task activity only

Can you share an image of the actual Workflow Context? A real run of the Workflow. That will give better graphical information. Now I just suspect it has something to do with your Join, though I'm not sure.
