If users cannot create a private tasks nor be able to view a report containing them, is their a particular role we need to add them to? They currently just have the ITIL role. We tested by moving a user into the ServiceNow Admin group and they can now view these Private tasks. I see several roles have been applied when giving admin access but does anyone know of the specific role needed that will allow them to reamin with just ITIL access.

I just did some testing and it seems no role is required. Private tasks are part of Visual Task Board (free form). Visual Task board are available under Self-Service > Visual Task Board. So as long and no role user can get there they can crate their own free form Visual Task Board.

No role is required however I have a user who created a private task on a board that they own and now they are trying to edit the name of the private task. When they do it tells them they don't have required permissions to make this change.

I did realize this user does not have an ITIL license so it is something within the itil license that allows them to update the private tasks.

I just tested it with a few users with no roles. It worked without issue. I could make any change I wanted with the private task. I would suggest checking the VTBTaskSecurity script include which is what is used in the ACLs to make sure nobody has modified it.

Can you verify this is a free form board? Although I'm not sure there is any way to create a private task otherwise.
