Although it seems to be a fundamental question, it's noticed that there are 2 asset management application from ServiceNow - Asset Management in ITSM / Hardware Asset Management.
Despite of the difference in license counting, can anyone explain more details to me what's the difference between these 2 applications?

Hi,
Yes in Orlando and Paris i believe we have a new module that is Hardware asset management(HAM) which gives you various ways to automate the asset management in terms of contract details, integration with ITSM process and SAMPro where you can see the software linked with your hardware asset.
ITSM asset management was a basic asset management where automation was not possible OOB and now workflows where there. Now in new HAM we have workflows, mobile support and many more.
https://www.servicenow.com/content/dam/servicenow-assets/public/en-us/doc-type/success/playbook/hardware-asset-management-process.pdf
This explain it all.
Thanks,
Ashutosh

thanks. So the only difference for ITSM asset management vs HAM is that automation / workflow is available in HAM. May i have some example of automation that only HAM can do?

HI,
One more thing i learnt yesterday in discussion with Servicenow that Asset management is mandatory for HAM. meaning HAM sits on top of HAM.
So without ITSM Asset management we cant use HAM.
When i say automation workflow it means we have few new flows which will get triggered automatically when asset approaches out of warranty, retirement, etc. so we have automatic task creations. Also we have asset normalisation which was not part of the ITSM Asset management.
other automation example is for disposal of the asset, it is triggered automatically.
Thanks,
Ashutosh
