Workflow and approval rules in sc_req_item

Hi,

Is there a way to use both the graphical workflow and the approval rules on the catalog of services (meaning on the sc_req_item table)?
At the time being, the catalog of services has been implemented with approval rules. Now I'm also willing to use the graphical workflow.

Check out System Properties > Approval Engines.

The wording of turning the approval engine off for sc_req_item depends on if you use Delivery Plans or not:

Turn engines off - Turn the approval engines off for this table (use this when Workflow is being used to manage approvals)

Notes: The Approval engine is only used when the Request Item has a Delivery Plan associated with it. If the Request Item is being managed by a Workflow, then the approval engines are automatically turned off.

I'd recommend if you start building workflow, then be sure to include the approvals as well. This not only resolves your issue, but also makes the workflow process easier to understand (as well as see all on one page).

Thanks for your response. It seems that I cannot use the workflow if I already activated the approval engine?
Or is it possible to use the approval engine for some items with a delivery plan associated with it and the workflow for some other items?

You can only use one type of approval engine per task table type.

I have used Approval rule for RITM table and facing the issue that, I can't able to change the approval rule in approval engine which is a read only field on that particular table (RITM).

Kindly help me to overcome this issue.
