This is my 10th Knowledge. We’ve come a long way since my first one, K12, which was in the great city of New Orleans. We had a couple of hundred people attend our PreConference training event. I believe we had 3-4 ILT courses available at the time; contrast that to this year where we have over 30 classes in our ILT catalog.

I remember the elevators in our hotel requiring YouTube videos in order to figure out how to use them; it was one of those where you scanned your room card at a kiosk and it routed you to a specific elevator to take. The check-in process was a bit chaotic too. As a door monitor, I felt like the airline gate agents letting people onto the plane. In spite of these roadblocks, we persevered and made it through as we do every year.

One of the highlights of the event was getting to see our founder, Fred Luddy, get up on the main stage and address the 2000 attendees at the opening keynote. It was an emotional moment for him as it was for the rest of us. Little did we know where the people and the company were headed in the years to come.

Innovation and creation are parts of the ServiceNow DNA. From the training side of things, we are constantly looking for ways to bring content to our customers. Over the years we have brought 100s of instructor-led and on-demand courses along with hands-on simulators, robust certifications, custom training, and specialized training events like Now Learning Live. The next big project I’m working on will involve YOU, our community. We are working on ways to allow you to bring your knowledge to our learning platform, Now Learning, and be recognized for it. Follow me here or on LinkedIn/Twitter as I start this journey.

Even if you aren’t on social media much, the week of Knowledge is the one week out of the year that I would suggest logging in and engaging with our ecosystem. People come out of hibernation during the week and even the most introverted people (like myself) come out to share and chat with each other!
