You may have read in our Washington DC release notes, that we're beginning the deprecation process for the Knowledge Management V3 homepage.

UI changes

Knowledge management Service PortalThe Knowledge Management v3 homepage has been replaced with the advanced Knowledge Management Service Portal homepage. See the "Deprecation" section for more information.

Deprecations

  • Starting with the Washington DC release, the Knowledge Management v3 homepage (com.snc.knowledge3) is being prepared for future deprecation. It will be hidden and no longer activated on new instances but it will continue to be supported. The Knowledge Management Service Portal provides the latest experience for this functionality.
  • For more information, see the Deprecation Process [KB0867184] article in the Now Support Knowledge Base.

So what does this mean for you? It depends on whether you're a new customer or an upgrade customer.

New

If you're a new customer on Washington DC or later, then this redirect to the Knowledge Management Service Portal will be turned on by default. There is no further configuration you need to do unless you'd like to configure the portal itself to meet your needs. We have information on how to do that in our guided setup and Now Learning training.

Upgrade

If you're an upgrade customer, you have time to decide when you want to turn on the redirect. By releasing deprecation information now, we want to provide you enough time in advance to evaluate the Knowledge Management Service Portal, make any configurations, decide when to deploy, and have your organizational change management materials ready.

When you're ready, all you need to do is change a system property. This is found in this product documentation, and we also have guided setup steps to help you too. You can also make configurations via guided setup, or referring to the Now Learning training.

We have an Academy Short video on the differences between the Knowledge Management V3 homepage and the Knowledge Management Service Portal, as well as a longer academy session that gets deeper into configuration options.

Not upgrading Washington DC right away?

No worries! You can get a head start on this process now. The system property redirect works for Utah and Vancouver customers, so you can use the guided setup, Now Learning Training, and academy information prior to your Washington DC+ upgrade.

Hello,

After turning on the system property for switching to Knowledge Management Service Portal, is the Knowledge Management v3 homepage just hidden?
Is there a way to fully disable Knowledge Management v3 homepage? Or will it just stay active just hidden?

Regards,
Grainer
