In the Classic UI, the Category Picker on a KB article has the + at the bottom to easily/quickly add a new category. The same functionality is not available in SOW. Before I raise a case with SNOW Support, could anyone please let me know if this is configurable or intentionally left out by SNOW by design?

No , the same functionality not available in SOW. Logging a case is good option.
If my response proves useful, please indicate its helpfulness by selecting " Accept as Solution" and " Helpful." This action benefits both the community and me.

I agree completely with limiting access.
Do you know if SNOW has a method to limit that access? I am the Knowledge Manager (and SNOW Admin) so I can add on the fly as needed. Others also have access to the + but are trained not to use it.
I was looking for the same quick/easy access available in Classic for myself in SOW since that's where we are now working 99% of the time.

Yes, you would do this at the Knowledge Base level, specifically Disable Category Editing checkbox.

Fully back this. We are migrating a KB that had this allowed for all and there are 3 and 4 levels of categories which are way too specific. We have since disabled the capability and they need to reach out to an Admin. We also try to only do 1 subcategory level or 2 the most or else it gets tedious to get to them.

Thanks for the info on that checkbox option. I thought it was to disable ALL changes to categories, not just disable it in the picker. I experimented and found that with this checked, the + option is still there for me (Owner of all KB) and those that are in the KB Manager slots for each KB.
So, this will limit access for those who should not be editing categories!
Doesn't solve my original ask, but helpful anyway!

As a Knowledge Admin, we do not use the + option to add KB Categories as that should be done directly in the KB itself via the Knowledge Categories tab.
- Go to Knowledge Bases using the Filter Navigator
- Find the KB you want to update the Categories for
- Go to Knowledge Categories tab
- Click new to add your Category(ies)
You are right that this is an example of something that is not available in SOW. There are still areas where you have to use Native/Classic UI to manage and this is one example I believe.
