Is TinyMCE plugin interfering with alt-click menu in content editor in articles?

When I was recently looking at a post about resizing tables, someone mentioned in the replies that there is a TinyMCE plugin that is preventing the normal alt-click mouse menu from coming up.

The normal alt-click menu includes options such as: Paste without formatting (my fave), Open in new tab, etc. (standard in many platforms).

The new alt-click in Tokyo only shows "Link." See image.

I've tried googling, and I'm not coming up with much.

Does anyone know:

  1. What is causing this change in menu option? (Is it truly plugins within TinyMCE?)
  2. Can it be fixed by turning off a plugin - and if yes, which one should I tell my admin/developer to look for to turn off?
  3. Are there any other ramifications of turning off the plugin (i.e., will something else break that will make updating knowledge articles difficult)?

Thank you so much for your help and insight. I appreciate you!

Hi, all! The easiest workaround to this (because it doesn't involve getting developers and admins involved) is to do a CTRL (or CMD) + alt-click. That brings up the alt-click menu. For my purposes, this is the best solution. I also like what @SatyakiBose offered, for folks who need to go a little deeper in solving the problem.

Thank you, everyone!

@James OBrien , do you want to try replying to this post, and then I can accept your answer as the solution once we've tested it out? Let me know if this helps.

Hello @Lauren Methena

That's correct.

This is because of the changes done to the TinyMCE editor.

You can read more about it here - https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/tokyo-servicenow-platform/page/build/service-portal/reference/cha...

We also have a KB for this - https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB1189657

I can't answer about the TinyMCE plugin but if you enjoy "right-click > Paste as Plain Text", you could try Ctrl + Shift + V to keyboard-shortcut paste as plain text.
