KB article templates - where is the standard template?

Hi,

this article mentions the 'Standard' knowledge article template

https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/paris-servicenow-platform/page/product/knowledge-management/conce...

- can anyone advise why this template isn't visible to me in the templates list despite the fact that it is displayed as an option in the 'Article Template Selector' when I create a new article?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi kc1959,

you won't find the Standard template in the [kb_article_template_list] table because it's not really a template, but rather the default kb_knowledge.do form. The other templates that you see on that list (eg. kb_template_what_is) are child tables of the default.

I hope this clarifies your doubt.

Kind regards,

Many thanks again Lucas.

I think it's simply a case of the documentation not being clear enough in some areas.

This clarifies things for me and will allow me to pass my (or your) findings on to the client.

I really appreciate your help.

If this is a default form, is there a way I can amend the Lorum Ipsum which shows in the Article Template Preview? I'm aware that I can't change it in preview mode, however as I'm unable to find 'standard' template to amend this, I'm not sure how best I can amend the LI to something more suitable. Thanks

Hi RogueFader, since a couple of releases ago you can edit this placeholder text directly in the article template's fields.

  1. Go to the article template list: Knowledge > Administration > Article Templates
  2. Select a template from the list (make sure it is active
  3. Scroll down to the Article Template Fields related list and select a field
  4. In the field form, you should see the Preview Text field where you can add your own text.

I hope this helps you.
