KB Article Theming and Support for Dark Mode

Hello! I am trying to gain some insight on how theming (Core UI) is functioning for those using the built-in Dark Mode theming; specifically, when dealing with the KB. We are using Utah currently. I am namely wondering if anyone else is observing the behaviors displayed below and/or found a way to work around what I am getting in my third point below:

1. The article body editor remains white; inconsistent with Dark UI theming:

2. If we paste any text from Microsoft Word, it defaults to black text with white background styling; you can only see this by viewing the element.style tag (code editor box styling code) as a result of my above point, which leads me to the point listed below. Note, if we paste in as text-only then no formatting is carried over.

3. Unless a technician sets 'Text Color' and 'Background Color' to unconfigured (the one with the 'X' in it), then when they publish an article, it displays as the following white-background with black text once published and the dark mode theme is applied:

I realize that this could be some weird interaction between the SNOW KB and Word, however what's intriguing me is that this behavior occurs even if I have Word set to Dark or Light mode theming itself, so I can't quite figure out why SNOW is always seeing theming in the above behavior, despite what styling the source content has in Word.

Thanks!

You're welcome! I completely understand that you were after understanding the reasoning here. Truthfully, we have a bunch of team members who sit in windowless buildings with the lights either turned down of off entirely - bringing up a blazing white page on a monitor under those conditions is namely why dark mode universally is preferred.

Interesting. I wonder if it has to do with how your organization has configured it SNOW?

Just for curiosity, I changed the theme on my organization's instance. I did not encounter the same the issue where the article body displaying as white.

When pasting any text from Microsoft Word, I have found that removing formatting has worked best. Then using the text editor in SNOW to format the article.

When I keep the formatting from Microsoft Word there tends to codes that gets added. Going back to fix it is cumbersome which potentially affects the appearance of the article.

Thats precisely what I was after Jenny - I am wondering if this deals with how we have it configured. That screenshot you shows displays a consistent UI that I was expecting. Out of curiosity, we are applying theming using Profile Icon (upper-right)>Preferences>Theme>Dark, as shown here:

I take it this is how you have theming applied?

I hear you on pasting from Word too - we found unformatted is generally the best as well, as you spend more time clearing out hidden formatting otherwise. Thanks for the reply!

Yes, this is correct. In my organization, there is only 2 themes available - default and dark
