When you are searching for knowledge base articles in your ServiceNow instance, you probably already know that there is more than one way.
But, if you are like me and like to use the tools you are already familiar with, here's a new way to search using your browser's built-in search engine feature to find knowledge articles in our Now Support (HI) instance.
Searching from the Chrome address bar
- Navigate to Chrome's Search Engine settings:
- You can use the menu (Three-dots > Settings > Search engines (left column) > Manage search engines)
- or directly go to chrome://settings/searchEngines
- Click on Add to create a new search engine with these values:
- Search engine: Now Support Knowledge search (or whichever name you prefer)
- Keyword: ks (also a customizable string, I've chosen knowledge search)
- URL with %s in place of the query:
https://support.servicenow.com/kb?id=kb_aisearch&query=%s
- Click Add to save your changes.
Now you can simply write the keyword "ks" in the address bar, followed by a space and your search terms. It will open the Now Support knowledge base search results page with the Support and Troubleshooting knowledge base selected. For example:
ks business rule infinite loop
The Knowledge Bytes series are quick tips that can help you create better knowledge base articles. Read them all in the Knowledge Managers on ServiceNow!
