We have had a few situations where someone has checked out an article and either left it in draft or has schedule published it and went on vacation then another writer finds that an edit needs to be made. We are looking into a group or a delegate type access for the tech writers to all have the ability to recall/publish without giving them full knowledge admin. Has anyone solved for similar situations?

Hello, Ownership groups will resolve your issue with access to edit. We have tied our ownership groups to our assignment groups. If you have an assignment group, you have an ownership group, but it all depends on how you want to control access to contribute.

Thank you, part of the function would be perfect. We absolutely need a shift from an individual to a group but we need a way to allow this but still maintain the permissions for all can contribute as the group that needs access to recall/edit checked out articles do not always maintain the content in the future.

If something is checked out then only the knowledge manager can intervene. Once something is in review though, it can be amended by other members of the ownership group. Be careful with ownership groups though as tasks go from being assigned to an owner/author to being unassigned and needing someone in the group to choose a colleague to take the task. I'm not sure if this is out of the box behaviour, but the result is that nobody in the ownership group thinks its their responsibility to do anything and to ask me to 'stop all these annoying notifications for articles that aren't mine'!

We use Ownership groups with a non-out-of-the-box option to manage the ownership of the KB with the group but give access to the contribute group to edit as needed. We call the non-out-of-the-box Additional editing groups and the field can be used by an ownership group or the contribute group.
This works for us, no worries if it doesn't work for you. I hope you find your answer.
