Social Q&A configuration

Hello
I'm really new to Service Now as Knowledge Manager and so please be patient with my complete lack of knowledge or ability to find what I'm looking for in the help documentation.  I'm also not sure our Product Owner is au fait with the Knowledge functionality.

We are looking to move to the newer Knowledge portal (very behind the curve!) and are currently using Washington with the intent to upgrade to Yokohama in July.

When I open the new Knowledge portal (see screenshots), there is a button that says "Ask a Question" which then redirects to a page called sqanda_new_question.  On that page, the Question box is greyed out but I can't for the life of me find any documentation that explains why and whether this is to do with a configuration setting that needs changing or if it's a licensing thing.

When I go through the admin menu, I can't find anything that relates to questions or communities so I'm assuming we're not licensed for something or maybe we're missing a plug in but searching Google for ServiceNow "Ask a Question" feature isn't really helpful!

Any constructive help anyone can give will be really appreciated.

Hi Rebecca,

I think the Social Q&A function was deprecated in the Paris release.

There is some info on migrating from Q&A to Communities for Yokohoma here which might help: https://www.servicenow.com/docs/bundle/yokohama-customer-service-management/page/product/customer-co...

We don't use it ourselves but in our KB we have a tick box that allows us to turn it on/off (even though it doesn't work) so you may need to edit the page to display that tick box if Q&A is on but you don't want it to be in use anymore.

If anyone has information on Communities and how they are using them/if they're worth setting up, I'd love to hear more 🙂

Thank you 🙂

Turns out we don't have CSM so I'm going to have to hide the functionality.  Slightly daft that the functionality was deprecated back in Paris (however many years ago that was) and yet the button still shows up in Xanadu!
