Hi there,
I have enabled multiple article templates that will be used for a specific knowledge base.
There are some knowledge bases that should only have the standard article template.
on https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/quebec-servicenow-platform/page/product/knowledge-management/task... it states you can link article templates to specific knowledge bases and 'If the Article Templates related list is empty, articles can be created using any article template.'
The problem is that the 'standard' article template cannot be selected in the related list. If you leave it empty it shows all article templates.
Is there a way to link only the standard article template to a knowledge base?

Hi Bart,
As noted here: All pre-defined templates are inactive by default. If you do not activate a template, the articles automatically use the standard template. As a knowledge admin, you can activate a template by navigating to Knowledge > Administration > Article Templates. Then in the article template list, set the Active field to true for one or more templates you would like to activate.
I hope that helps!

Hi Shannont, thank you for your reply.
I understand that I can disable them all and then the standard will be used but that is not the requirement.
I Have 2 knowledge bases. The first should use the standard template and the other should use the templates I activated.
So the templates are active since the second knowledge base uses them. But then the first will have all (if no article templates are added to the related list) or the templates that are selected in the related list. It's not possible to select the standard article template in the related list so it has to be one of the others but that is not correct, it should be the standard.

Thanks for the additional detail Bart. I've tested this and cannot seem to come up with a way as if you make a template inactive in one kb, it crosses them all 😞 (I am not a developer). I might suggest contacting SNOW support for this one unless someone else knows. The only workaround I can think of is to create a Custom Template duplicating the fields the Standard template has but again, maybe someone else has a better suggestion.
I found this community post but I don't think it still provides the answer.

Hello,
I am now facing the very same situation as you are.
Only what I found is this summary by Lucas - HERE:
"You won't find the Standard template in the [kb_article_template_list] table
because it's not really a template, but rather the default kb_knowledge.do form.
The other templates that you see on that list (eg. kb_template_what_is)
are child tables of the default."
